I. Week 


The aim of teaching Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution course and giving information about the basic concepts of the course and the strategy of the Turkish Revolution


 


Week II


 


The collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Revolution (Internal reasons, external reasons, geopolitical and economic situation of the Ottoman Empire)


 


Week III


 


Innovation movements in the Ottoman Empire in the XIX. century (Tanzimat, Islahat and I. Constitutional Monarchy periods)


 


Week IV


 


Internal and external events that occurred during the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire (Crimean War, 1877-78 Ottoman-Russian War, Macedonian issue, 31 March incident, Crete and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tripolitan War, Balkan Wars


 


Week V


 


The intellectual movements in the last period of the Ottoman Empire (Ottomanism, Islamism, Turkism, Westernism, Decentralisation, Socialism) and the Ottoman Empire in the process of Constitutional Monarchy II.


 


Week VI


 


World War I (the outbreak of the war, the Ottoman Empire's involvement in the war, the fronts and the end of the war) and the signing of the Armistice of Mondros



Week VII


 

12 September 1980 to the present day domestic political developments in Turkey (the situation of the country after the 12 September military intervention, return to civilian administration, Anap government and coalitions, political and economic crises, military interventions in civilian administration)


 


Week XIII


 


Turkey's foreign policy since 1960 (Turkey during the Cold War, developments with the European Union, the Cyprus Peace Operation, the so-called Armenian genocide allegations and Turkey, relations with neighbours)


 


Week XIV


 



Turkey's geopolitical position, threats arising from this position, expectations for Turkey's modernisation in the XXI centuryOccupations, Reactions (emergence of Kuva-yı Milliye), Societies (National, hostile to national existence and minority societies), Mustafa Kemal Pasha's activities after the Armistice of Mondros and his transition to Anatolia

The liquidation of Kuva-yı Milliye and the establishment of the regular army, the Greek general offensive and the battles on the Western Front

Revolutions in the field of Education and Culture (Tevhid-i Tedrisat law, adoption of Latin letters, Millet schools, establishment and activities of Turkish History and Language institutions, Turkish history thesis, solar-language theory, 1933 University reform, Halkevleri), Developments in the field of health

Izmir Economic Congress, economic policy in the early years of the Republic, the emergence of statist economic policies in Turkey as a reflection of the 1929 World Economic Depression and the I. Five-Year Development Programme
